How does DCAM® work?
DCAM—the Data Management Capability Assessment Model—is developed and maintained via the collaboration of EDM Council members such as Amplifi. The DCAM framework consists of various dimensions or domains, each representing a specific aspect of data management. These dimensions include data governance, data architecture, data quality, data integration, data security and privacy, metadata management, master data management, and more. Each dimension is further divided into subcategories, which contain specific criteria and maturity levels to assess an organization’s capabilities.
The purpose of DCAM is to provide a standardized and comprehensive assessment of an organization’s data management practices. By using the model, organizations can identify areas of strength and areas that require improvement in their data management strategies. The assessment results can then be used to prioritize initiatives, allocate resources effectively, and develop a roadmap for enhancing data management capabilities.
DCAM serves as a valuable tool for organizations aiming to establish a mature and effective data management program. It promotes best practices, supports data-driven decision-making, and enables organizations to align their data management efforts with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
